Lucan band The Riptide Movement have announced that they have signed a worldwide record deal with Universal Music. The band, who are due to release their 3rd album “Getting Through” on April 4th, revealed the news via their Facebook Page last Wednesday. TMFTML would like to congratulate TRM, who have proved themselves to be one of Ireland’s hardest working bands. The guys will be launching their new album with a gig in Vicar Street on April 4th. Villagers have scooped up the Choice Music Prize for their fantastic album {Awayland} which was released to critical acclaim in January last year. The band were up against some stiff competition from the likes of And So I watch You From Afar, Lisa O’Niell, O Emperor, Little Green Cars, Bell X1, My Bloody Valentine, Kodaline, Girls Names and Mano Le Tough. Congratulations to everyone at Villagers, it must have been a difficult decision for the judges but it’s well deserved. You can stream {Awayland} on Spotify here.

Waterford native Deaf Joe has just released his new album ‘From the heights of a dream’, and has made a stream of the album available on his website. The stream is an interesting format, a single click will play the album in it’s entirety, played over a slideshow of images of the artist’s childhood. The album itself is a beautiful piece of work, with apparent influences of artists like John Grant and John Hopkins while still remaining very original.
